Hi Guys,
I currently have a Rally Raid which averages around 26mpg. This weekend my dealer has loaned me an Aventura automatic as I am thinking of changing it. I love the truck but am concerned about the fuel consumption. I put in 4 gallons when I picked it up & 70 miles later the fuel light was on. I checked the on board computer which tod me I had acheived 19.8 MPG. When I checked the fuel consumtion history it shows it has never achieved more than 20 mpg. I drove it the same as I drive my D22 with some motorway & some urban work.
Is this normal fuel consumption, are manuals better or is there a problem with this truck?
Anyone want to buy an excellent Rally Raid? 50.000 miles, FSH, New clutch, exhaust, wheels(outlaw 17″), fitted tow bar, soft front bar, Snug top XTR & bedrug. Not your usual rubbish probably one of the best available. Finished in silver with graphite graphics

Just read that thread & it seems I can expect between 14 & 35mpg. The blurb that the fealer has given me suggests I can get 27.7 mpg on the combined cycle in an auto & 28.8 for the manual. I see little point in changing my D22 which has never returned less than 23 mpg(towing at ap to 80mph) for a vehicle that is the best part of £29,000 with vat & accessories for a vehicle that returms at least 5 mpg less.
I will talk to my dealer when I return it tommorrow.

I have a 2008 D40 Aventura Auto its absolutly Fab apart for the fuel consumption. Euro 4 means it has a DPF (diesel particulate filter) no smoke at all but poor fuel consumption & less power. In heavy trafic as low as 17.5mpg, Motorway at 65mph 2000 rpm 30mpg is possible. Average for me is 22mpg. I have fitted a toneau cover but I do not think it makes much difference. I would like to here from any one who has fitted a Kenlow fan or someone who uses Bio Diesel

Hi.
I have an ‘06 plate D40. I bought it new, and at first, MPG was poor. But after a few thousand miles (I don’t know exactly when, sorry) it was returning over 30MPG. It steadily improved, and now is ALWAYS over 32MPG. I run it for work (mainly) and always get receipts for fuel and always check the economy. It has been been 36.4 after a 400+ mile round trip to Norfolk (no proper motorways on this journey). It’s the 6 speed manual. I don’t drive it crazily, but at the same time, I’m not dilly dallying. I have a Top Dawg Tonneau cover (the best, most practical and economical for me at the time).
It’s done 30,000 miles now and is still fine. I’ve spoken to others who seem very surprised. I don’t know why mine seems so good compared to others.
I’m pleased with my truck, and sorry I can’t offer any good advice on economy.
