Hi, I run a Navara D22 bought new in March 2005. Since then, I have covered 63,000 miles so am just out of warranty.
Imagine my surprise when the engine (big end no 3) let go just 3000 miles out of warranty! Nissan do not seem too keen on helping out with the estimated £5000 cost, despie never having missed a 6000 mile service!
I noticed a couple of posts regarding timing chain recalls, does anyone have details of chassis numbers affected by this as I’ve never heard about this before?
Does anybody know if this has happened to anyone else, or whether there were any recalls regarding this engine/vehicle?
hi ken, did you not get a 3 year warranty when you brought the d22…
it’s 3 year or 60000 miles and I’ve just gone over that. Nissan customer services are not really the most flexible people in the world!

Ken you will have to contact nissan and quote your chassis no. they will then tell you if yours came within that recall

I have just bought a 54 reg navara sport with fsh 57000 miles on it and am hearing about turbos dropping into engines etc and all sorts of horror storys ! It is going in tommorow for a oil leak that has developed somewhere above the starter motor any ideas ? Can i do anything to stop my Nissan blowing to pieces Thanks Ian (worried)

I have a nissan d22 king cab BF 54 AUA BOUGHT AT 27K REGULALY SERVICED AT 6K NOISY AT 42K SERVICE 2MTHS OUTSIDE OF 3YEAR WARRENTY NISSAN NOT ABLE TO HELP HAD NEW TIMING CHAIN FITTED AT 2.5 K THEN OIL LEAKAGE FROM OIL FILTER HOUSING 500.00AT SAME JUST HAD 54K SERVICE CARRIED OUT EARLY AS NOISY ENGINE I HAVE JUST PICKED VEHICAL UP FROM A45 IN WARWICKSHIRE WITH CON ROD THROUGH ENGINE COST APPROX 6K FOR NEW ENGINE NISSAN WILL NOT HELP ANYONE ABLE TO GIVE ADVICE PLEASE.

61,000 miles - engines just blew up on me as I was doing 50 back from the golf course!
No warranty bought it off ebay for 6,800 with 50,000 on the clock. Oil change - oil filter change and air filter as soon as I bought it!
No compression - piston rings have gone - just fires oil through the motor and produces more smoke than 24 hour rave party! I heard that recon engine is available for about 3k, not sure though? Sounds like I have joined the group of blokes that got the knackered up engines - the ones that were not recalled - perhaps a batch of them! Shit happens hey! Should have got a landie.

my timing chain snaped on 60000 miles it cost £2500 to fix, nissan informed me that the truck had been done in nov at a garage in exeter, iv had the truck since new so i found this odd as i live in northumberland, on inspection my vin no does not match up with the log-book nissan dont want to know.

51,000 miles; 50mph knocking sound; big bang. showered the road with oil and metal fragments; hole in the side of the engine by con rod.
Nissan say that they won’t pay for repair as not serviced through a ‘good enough garage’. Anyone need spares for a 2004 Nissan Navarra?

just had my 04 nissan navara d22 engine put a conrod thru the block @ 46000 mile. just 2 mths outside the extended 5 yr warranty. Nissan didn’t care that it hadn’t reached the 93000 mile mark cause its whichever comes first. the worst thing about it was i never really used it that much. Just got a second hand engine and am going putting that in. Any one have any tips on taking out the old engine easily

iv’e just had the same problem i was driving down the m62 tuesday evening heard a knocking sound before i could pull over massive bang oil & debris everywere , i eventually got towed off by the RAC GRRR and
found out that the conrod had came thru the block , when in got home i searched the net for forums & found a video clip ( WATCHDOG )
they say that this is very very & i mean very commom poor manufacturing of bolts & bearings pre 2006, nissan new about this after so many complaints & extended the warranty to 93k 5 years on D22 MODELS, my truck is now in the garage & has done 91k on a 54 plate with 12 stamps in my history book if i dont get any joy there will be hell to pay as i could have killed someone when this blew up not good @ all , youd think coz the navara looks like a tank it would be built like one but its not when was the last time you heard of a motor throwing a conrod only busses & wagons in the 60’s 70’s i only use it to go to & from work the only heavy thing ita carried is the wife haha , i will keep you all posted with my progress wish me look
