Hi Guys,
I currently have a Rally Raid which averages around 26mpg. This weekend my dealer has loaned me an Aventura automatic as I am thinking of changing it. I love the truck but am concerned about the fuel consumption. I put in 4 gallons when I picked it up & 70 miles later the fuel light was on. I checked the on board computer which tod me I had acheived 19.8 MPG. When I checked the fuel consumtion history it shows it has never achieved more than 20 mpg. I drove it the same as I drive my D22 with some motorway & some urban work.
Is this normal fuel consumption, are manuals better or is there a problem with this truck?
Anyone want to buy an excellent Rally Raid? 50.000 miles, FSH, New clutch, exhaust, wheels(outlaw 17″), fitted tow bar, soft front bar, Snug top XTR & bedrug. Not your usual rubbish probably one of the best available. Finished in silver with graphite graphics

Just read that thread & it seems I can expect between 14 & 35mpg. The blurb that the fealer has given me suggests I can get 27.7 mpg on the combined cycle in an auto & 28.8 for the manual. I see little point in changing my D22 which has never returned less than 23 mpg(towing at ap to 80mph) for a vehicle that is the best part of £29,000 with vat & accessories for a vehicle that returms at least 5 mpg less.
I will talk to my dealer when I return it tommorrow.
Ken.

Are these 160 or 100 Watt bulbs I have never heard of 160W but thought I would check?
where are they - in your living room??
![]()
Aaah!
Ooh I would guess main (160w) and dipped (100w) but I have read a thread on here about super power bulbs maybe melting the headlights?
Ahh
So how do they change between full beam and dipped?
I know plenty of people who have 100 W bulbs in the headlights but 160 that is BIG! my spots are 130W
with the full beam switch in the car! (bulbs have 2 filiaments, one for full and one with a shield for dipped)
Maybe i mis-understood what you meant!
Don’t expect them to last very long . . . . they tend to have a very short lifespan (he even mentions it in the ebay ad!)
Plus all the probs with wiring and light units melting!
NOT worth buying IMHO
at 160w 12v, these will pull nearly 13amps EACH! ![]()
i had 130 main beams but the actual bulbs melted so had bulge on underside!
apart from all that I am sure there is a legal limit to the power of forward - facing bulbs you can use - 55w?
The 130W bulbs in my spots didnt last long, I wont be buying 160W for my head lighs, I was thinking of seting 4 smaller spots below the other 2 on my Abar, so will go with that.

Hello people
I have a 56 plate Aventura with Navi and over the last few weeks I have been working out all the wiring with regards to the sound system and the screen display.
I was wondering if anyone has tried to retro-fit a reversing camera to the standard Nav screen.
From my poking about today, it looks like the loom connecting the factory camera control unit (which controls the reversing camera on the new model Aventura’s) to the display is missing, as well as the control box.
The reversing camera control unit only actually sends a signal to the display unit to let it know its there, a 6v feed to the camera, and the camera image itself.
In theory, we could interface to the back of the display directly very easily with a camera.
I am trying to source the connectors so we can make a piggy-back connection.
I have sussed out the RGB and sync feed to the display from the actual Nav unit and found the required electronics to access it.
I am working on a smart switching unit to allow us to use the built in display for our own purposes.
It will add extra inputs to the steering wheel mode button to allow DVD and Ipod connection.
Using a serial communication circuit I have, we should be able to control all the Ipods functions from the steering wheel, and have all the track information on the Nav screen as well.
If the factory reversing camera input is internally disconnected in the display unit, then I can add a reversing camera input on my switch box instead.
As for the sound system, the only way of uprating it would be to make a piggy-back connector for the 6 cd changer system.
That allows us to take the 4x speaker outputs from the cd changer and run them through line level converters.
That gives you 4x line level feeds to connect to an amplifier of your choice.
The loom converter would them pipe the now amplified signal back around the original speaker wires (as long as you don’t go mad on the amplifier size!).
If you really wanted to boost the system, then you would just need a 12v feed from the battery to the amplifier, as the standard loom feed would not take the amps.
We could then uprate the door speakers and have a much uprated system, but still using the factory equipment - and no cut wires anywhere.
The whole system will be plug and play - no cutting wires anywhere.
The only stumbling block I have at the moment is I need a way to mute the cd changer, while it is in Ipod mode or DVD mode.
The truck with Navi does not have an externally wired mute for a car phone, as it doesn’t need it.
I am hoping the cd changer unit has a mute available on its rear connector block, even though its not used.
People without the Navi system beware…. unplugging your 6 disc cd changer will lock it and you will need a Clarion guy to reset the unit.
If anyone had played about in their truck with the sound system?
Any help would be great.
Mmmm…. long post…. sorry
Hi
My experience with reversing cam on my 2007 Aventura so far:
I have feed the Display Unit pin 11 and 12 vid a signal from a camera, nothing happens.
Ping 67 on Navi Control Unit seems to be the one who disables the “normal” input to the display unit but nothing happens with that one either. Regarding to schematics it should be a low (0 volt) on this pin.
The Camera Control Unit is not needed for testing and i’s an easy task to make one as far as I find out what it actually does.
So, this is where I stand now. Next step is to find out if the Display Unit and the Navi Control Unit has the same partnumber in my Navara and in the Pathfinder which has the reversing camera.
There is third party interfaces available but they are far to expensive, over £300!
Any ideas is appreciated!
Yes. Pin 69 on the Nav box needs pulling low to tell the Nav module that the camera control box is attached.
You also need the gearbox in reverse to obtain the 12v signal on pin 65, and then the camera input on pins 11 and 12 on the display unit.
If this doesn’t appear to work, then I would say the display unit doesn’t have it enabled to show an external camera input.
Therefore, the only other way I can see to add a camera without lining the pockets of the Nissan dealers, is to make a small RGB+sync switching box to cut into the image signal to the screen from the nav module.

Nipped into B&Q, Aberdeen at lunchtime… Came out, fob would not open the car. Tried a few times then tried to warm the fob up incase the battery was expiring…
Then I noticed another car alarm going off a few rows away… Never mind, tried another time then decided to open the passengers door with the key.
Now, I’ve got the Nautilus horns - Jeez, do they make an impressive sound when blasting away
Shut the door, they stopped a few seconds later. Then a little bloke came over and said “Can’t help but notice you were having alarm problems, so did I - Took 2mins to get into the car…” Then we looked over to this Renault which was still going daft with a confused lady beside it..
I opened the door again, put the key in the ignition and the alarm stopped and engine started… so I wandered over to this other car to suggest she try the same… While I was talking to her, another
So, that was four of us, could not get into our cars in the carpark using the fobs at lunchtime.
Any ideas??
Last week our friends left the house after visiting and pressed key fod to there brand new (that day) imprezza and it set off my mates dadas jeep wrangler alarm, happened again too.
Were you any where near a substation, mobile/radio/TV transmitter?
Ah, was it the B&Q by the Asda on south side of Aberdeen?
There is an mobile phone site there. They occosionally can interfere with some car alarms but is generally the big transmitters like at Durris etc.
Hmm.. I’ve been there loads of times before (not that I suppose that counts for much
)
It was the one at Bridge of Dee Tomo, typically, I live within line of sight of the Durris mast too! (albeit three or so miles away).
On the positive side, at least I now know that the alarm shuts up when you get the key into the ignition - that didn’t work for the other person ![]()
It sounds like interference from a similar frequency device in close proximity.
Find it on multimap so we can see an OS map - that will likley show anything bigger.
That aside - how do you get in with the key? My Nav has a small slot under the passenger door handle but the key wont push in there like that? Do you have to pry the plastic off first?

Has anyone got any tips or pics of hideing wires.
For example you put a sat nav on the dash but cant stand the wires dangling all over the place. Especially if youve got a snooper as well.
Any ideas?
Take off the center console (cup holders/gear surround/radio surround), remove the wires at the back of the ciggy lighter (or accessory socket, this is permanant live, ciggy is switched live), use piggy back spade connections so you dont have to cut wires and run in a new supply.
Route wires to pop out between panel gaps when you put the bits of the dash back in.
my laser detector sits next to the sun sensor on top of the dash - the wire is fed into the vent next to it, and into the space behind the nav screen. as already mentioned, it all comes off very easily, and theres loads of space in there.
I put my snooper on top of my rear view mirror and powered it from the courtesy light just above it. A very neat job if I say so myself!!
